Altogether In Ministry (AIM) was established as a network of women and men throughout the Lutheran Church of Australia and New Zealand (LCANZ) who facilitate cultural change that honours the identity in Christ of both women and men, and the Holy Spirit's call of both women and men to ordained ministry.
This website was established following the LCANZ Convention of Synod 2015, and new content was last added in 2017. This site continues as an archive website.

Where we've been

Altogether In Ministry developed from the Women’s Ministry Network http://www.wmn.org.au/ (WMN), which was established in the 1990s with the following goal:

'We want to affirm the work and ministry of women in the past, encourage participation in the present and actively seek out the exciting possibilities for service in the future, including ordination.'

The new name was adopted in 2016 to reflect our recognition that this is not just 'women's business', but reflects and affects our entire church. While this site does not continue to be updated, the vision and hope continues. One way of connecting with a network is by contacting [email protected].

Where we're heading

Since 2013, the LCA's OWL website has provided a discussion forum and a comprehensive resource repository regarding 'the ordination question'. Following National Synod 2015, the CTICR prepared a draft doctrinal statement for the 18th Convention of Synod that presents a theological basis for the ordination of women and men, and why this need not be church divisive. In 2017, Consultation regarding this draft doctrine occurred at about 25 sites in Australia and New Zealand.

Why do we have an AIM website as well? In this site we provide some broader context to the discussion, both ecumenically and internationally.  We also aim to retain and share the story of the many who have worked towards the ordination of women as well as men in the LCA, particularly over the past 25 years.

While this is not an official website of the Lutheran Church of Australia, it comes under the banner of the Church’s “Ordination. We’re Listening” dialogue and operates within the parameters of the dialogue.
